YES I am a full time inspector. I do about 250-300 inspections a year and I am a member of the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors. No I have not seen it all! I see something new at least once a week. A good home inspector is always learning and always growing - you have to if you're going to be in this industry. If I don't know the answer to your question, I'll find out for you. PROMISE!
I am an intensely curious person. Always have been. I guess that’s why I like documentaries, read non-fiction and enjoy biographies. I have a masters degree but like the blue collar life. I drive a truck, lift weights and enjoy the great outdoors.
I'll be honest about why I became a home inspector. I WANTED TO BE MY OWN BOSS! I like to help people too. I did sales for awhile but it wasn't a good fit because I'm not much of an optimist. I'm a realist...and is probably why I enjoy being an inspector
To do this work you have to be kind of rugged. Crawl spaces, spiders, wet roof tops, hot attics and dead rodents under the house. . .it doesn't bother me. I like to go places other people don't. I like seeing things no one else does.
So yes, that’s what gets me out of bed in the morning. We don’t just find our occupations. Our occupations find us. . .
